Did you know the Iloilo City Emergency Responder (ICER) of the city government here was adjudged the Best Government Emergency Responders Award in Western Visayas barely two months after Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog assumed office?
The 2010 Gawad KALASAG award was given to the city by the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council (RDCC) 6 in recognition of its Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance in early September 2010.
In this file photo, Mayor Jed is shown giving ICER head and civil defense deputized coordinator Jose Papa a plaque of appreciation for the honor the ICER brought to the city as well as a Mayor’s Citation for their ICER team for their accomplishment.
“Such an accolade is an outstanding testimony to the unselfish commitment and profound work ethics as well as the professional standard shown by Papa and his men They serve the people of Iloilo City through the unwavering implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Programs,” Mayor Jed said.
“The award and the recognition do not only bestow honor, but most especially manifest an endless inspiration for all government workers to painstakingly devote their skills and talent by being true servants of people at all times,” the Mayor added.
The ICER is primarily responsible for immediately taking action in times of emergencies and calamities in the metropolis.
