Tropical Cyclone Warning: Tropical Storm Gorio

“GORIO” has intensified into a Tropical Storm as it continues to move closer to Eastern Visayas.
Location of eye/center: At 10:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm GORIO was estimated based on all available data at 250 km East of Maasin Southern Leyte (10.7°N, 127.3°E).
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 15 kph.
Forecast Positions:
Tropical Storm GORIO is expected to be in the vicinity of Catarman, Northern Samar by tomorrow evening. By Sunday evening, it will be in the vicinity of Cabanatuan City and at 390 km Northwest of Dagupan City by Monday evening.
Public Storm Warning Signal No.2: Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon and Masbate including Burias Island, Ticao Island, Samar and Leyte Provinces, Biliran Island, Dinagat Province and Siargao Island
Public Storm Warning Signal No.1: Quezon, Polillo Island, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan, Capiz and Northeastern Iloilo.
• Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signals #2 & #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone.
• Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Storm.
• The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 5 AM tomorrow.
