Independence Day Medical Transport

Yesterday, June 12, 2012, as the whole country commemorates our Independence day, the Iloilo City Emergency Responders had multiple call-ups around 9:30 am. It started with a call from Hibao-an, Mandurriao in the northern part of Iloilo City, when a Traffic Aide reported a vehicular accident. Based on the report with a vehicle collided with an electrical post. Medic 2 was dispatched to the said location. Medic 2 ambulance was in the area of diversion road, traffic radio reported that they carried the patient through the ambulance. The reason is that they were pressured by the people on the scene to carry the patient without knowing that they might severely injure more the patient. While they were busy loading the patient on the police patrol, ICER heard another call in the same area (Medic 2 informed base to head back to base that the patient was carried already by the police patrol), the tri-sikad also known as pedicab for some others slammed by an SUV. The pedicab of tri-sikad was parking on the side while the SUV was looking to the accident area and not paying attention on his driving. ICER was called again to proceed to the area again. But ICER had another call-up at the same time when Medic 2 was pulled back to the base and proceed to Rizal for a medical transport. At the same time, Medic 3 was also proceed to a vehicular accident in Rizal just few blocks from the Medical Transport and Rescue 1 also had medical emergency in lapaz. Medic 1 had on standby in the Freedom Grandstand as the event in Plaza Liberdad commemorates by the City Government. Medic 2 quickly assesses the patient and learned that she was pregnant and felt dizzy and knock unconscious for several minutes. Medic 2 proceeded to Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao as the folks recommended and informed base the patient condition and vital signs. Then after, Medic 2 ambulance proceeds to the recommended hospital. (ebsp)
