The first even rain or shine fun run held by Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and was successful on the turn out. It was a rainy Saturday morning when the scheduled fun run was dated and everybody was asking if the fun run will be start according to plan or not due to the down pour. Even the down pour was present, runners start to come and everybody was anxious to start the first ever rainy fun run. Some saw the signage and registered for the ultimate fun run ever.

It started with a warm-up tae bo exercise lead by our every own ICER staff and tae bo guru, Ms. Ritchelyn Altura. And opening remarks from our Medical Response Officer, Mr. Darwin Papa, EMT-A. The event was hosted by Ms. Aicila Pleñago, EMT-B and Mr. Elben Mallo, R.N. and started by firing the starting gun by Mr. Randy Pleñago, EMT-A.

At the starting line, the water was a 5 inches to an inch of rain water. But runners was not discourage from this. But completely enjoyed the first ever rainy fun run.

The event was covered by two lenses with both have memorable images and personal experiences, Mr. Benson Yap, R.N. and Mr. Eb Blair Peñaranda, EMT-A, R.T.

At the end of the event, prices was given to the lucky winners and some was raffle and given memorabilia T-Shirts, Mugs, keychain and medical first aid kits. And some take a picture at the picture stand situated at the front with the Disaster Awareness Run logo as the back ground. The mobile kitchen of the Philippine Red Cross was also present for the hungry finishers.

This first Disaster Awareness Fun Run wouldn’t be successful if you fun runners didn’t enjoy the true meaning of fun run. Thank you very much and see you again in the next Disaster Awareness Fun Run. (ebsp)

At 12:00 noon (July 3, 2012), a male patient arrived at ICER’s office, with a deep laceration on his left foot, caused by a ‘sander’. He said, while he was fixing a pedicab, he accidentally dropped it straight to his left foot. We immediately gave him first aid, checked his vital signs, and advised him to go to a hospital for a proper treatment. (jasp)
