Tropical Cyclone Warning: Tropical Storm Gorio 
Issued at 10:00 AM, 30 June 2013 

TROPICAL STORM GORIO is now over West Philippine Sea after passing Lubang Island.

Location of eye/center: At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm “GORIO” was estimated based on all available data at 90 km Southwest of Subic, Zambales (14.5°N, 119.5°E).

Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Movement: Forecast to move Northwest at 24 kph.

Forecast Positions: Tropical Storm GORIO is expected to be at 390 km West of Laoag City by tomorrow morning and out of the Philippine Area of Responsibity (PAR).

Public Storm Warning Signal No.1 (Winds of 45-60 kph is expected in at least 36 hrs):

Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces incl. Lubang Island.

• Public Storm Warning Signals elsewhere are now lowered.

• Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signal #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves.

TROPICAL STORM GORIO has maintained its strength and is now in the vicinity of Batangas.

Location of eye/center: At 4:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm GORIO was estimated based on all available data over the vicinity of Batangas (14.0°N, 120.8°E).

Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 26 kph.

Forecast Positions: Tropical Storm GORIO is expected to be at 500 km Northwest of Subic, Zambales by tomorrow morning and out of the Philippine Area of Responsibity (PAR).

Public Storm Warning Signal No.2 (Winds of 61-100 kph is expected in at least 24 hrs):

Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon Province, Marinduque, Mindoro Provinces incl. Lubang Island.

Tropical Cyclone Warning: Tropical Storm Gorio 
Issued at 11:00 PM, 29 June 2013 

TROPICAL STORM “GORIO” has maintained its strength as it moves in a west northwest direction.

Location of eye/center: At 10:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm GORIO was estimated based on all available data at 60 km Northeast of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro (13.6°N, 121.6°E).

Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 24 kph.

Forecast Positions: Tropical Storm GORIO is expected to be at 350 km Northwest of Metro Manila tomorrow evening. By Monday evening, it will be at 870 km Northwest of Metro Manila and it is out of the Philippine Area of Responsibity (PAR).

Public Storm Warning Signal No.2 (Winds of 61-100 kph is expected in at least 24 hrs):

Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Zambales, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces including Lubang Island, Romblon Marinduque, Quezon Province, Camarines Provinces, Albay and Burias Island.

Public Storm Warning Signal No.1 (Winds of 45-60 kph is expected within the next 36 hours):

LUZON: La Union, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, Polillo Island, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate including Ticao Island, Coron and Calamian Group of Islands.

VISAYAS: Capiz, Aklan and Antique.

Tropical Cyclone Warning: Tropical Storm Gorio 
Issued at 5:00 PM, 29 June 2013 

Tropical Storm “GORIO” has accelerated further and is now over Sorsogon Bay. 

Location of eye/center: At 4:00PM today, the center of Tropical Storm GORIO was estimated based on all available data at 40 km Southeast of Legaspi City (12.9°N, 123.9°E).

Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Movement: Forecast to move Northwest at 24 kph.

Forecast Positions:
Tropical Storm GORIO is expected to be at 60 km Northwest of Iba, Zambales after passing Metro Manila in the morning. By Monday afternoon, it will be at 560 km Northwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur and out of the Philippine Area of Responsibity (PAR).

Public Storm Warning Signal No.2 (Winds of 61-100 kph is expected in at least 24 hrs):

“GORIO” has intensified into a Tropical Storm as it continues to move closer to Eastern Visayas.

Location of eye/center: At 10:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm GORIO was estimated based on all available data at 250 km East of Maasin Southern Leyte (10.7°N, 127.3°E).

Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 15 kph.

Forecast Positions:
Tropical Storm GORIO is expected to be in the vicinity of Catarman, Northern Samar by tomorrow evening. By Sunday evening, it will be in the vicinity of Cabanatuan City and at 390 km Northwest of Dagupan City by Monday evening.

Public Storm Warning Signal No.2: Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon and Masbate including Burias Island, Ticao Island, Samar and Leyte Provinces, Biliran Island, Dinagat Province and Siargao Island

Tropical Depression 06W (GORIO) has gained strength slightly as it headed towards Samar and Bicol Area. Its rainbands now affecting Eastern Visayas, Northeastern Mindanao and Bicol Region. 

This depression will enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Hanging Habagat) and bring windy/cloudy conditions with occasionally slight to moderate to sometimes heavy rains and thunderstorms across Mindanao, particularly Zamboanga Peninsula tonight...and across Western Visayas on Saturday. 

Residents and visitors along Eastern Visayas, Bicol and Luzon should closely monitor the development of 06W (GORIO).

CURRENT STORM ANALYSIS 

As of 6:00 pm today, the center of TD 06W (Gorio) was located over the southern part of the Philippine Sea...about 250 km east-northeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte or 284 km southeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar...currently moving northwest with an accelerated forward speed of 19 km/hr in the general direction of the Samar and Bicol Region. 

Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min. avg) have increased to 55 km/hr near the center with higher gusts. The 24-hour rainfall accumulation near the center of 06W (Gorio) is estimated to be heavy (300 mm).

3-DAY FORECAST OUTLOOK* 

TD 06W (Gorio) is expected to continue moving northwest throughout the forecast period. On the forecast track, the core of 06W (Gorio) will traverse the northeastern part of Samar Island Saturday morning...and will be passing along the eastern shoreline of Sorsogon-Albay-Camarines Sur, cutting across Partido District (Camarines Sur) and Camarines Norte on Saturday evening until midnight. 06W will then be passing over or very close to Polillo Island on Sunday morning, making landfall over Northern Quezon-Aurora Area before Sunday noon...and cross Central Luzon Sunday afternoon. By Sunday evening, the depression will be just along the coast of La Union or over the West Philippine Sea...and will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday morning. 

06W (Gorio) is forecast to maintain its strength for the next 12 hours...weakening slightly through the next 24 to 48 hours due to its interaction with the land mass of Luzon. Once the system reaches the West Philippine Sea on Sunday evening, it will re-intensify and could become a Tropical Storm (TS) on Monday. 

The following is the summary of the 3-day forecast outlook on this system:

 SATURDAY EVENING: Over Albay Gulf...about 43 km east of Legazpi City, Albay [6PM JUNE 29: 13.2N 124.1E @ 45kph].
 SUNDAY EVENING: Over the west coast of La Union, near Cape Bolinao, Pangasinan...about 97 km west of Baguio City [6PM JUNE 30: 16.5N 119.7E @ 45kph].
 MONDAY EVENING: Over the South China Sea...approaching Southern China...becomes a TS...about 280 km southeast of Hong Kong[6PM JULY 01: 19.9N 115.3E @ 65kph]

*Please be reminded that the Forecast Outlook changes every 6 hours, and the Day 3 Forecast Track have an average error of 250 km...while the wind speed forecast error, averages 35 kph per day. Therefore, a turn to the left or right of its future track and changes in its wind speed must be anticipated from time to time.

EFFECTS & HAZARDS SUMMARY

 DEVELOPING RAINBANDS - spreading across the southern part of the Philippine Sea, Eastern Visayas, Northeastern Mindanao and Bicol Region. Affected Areas: Samar, Leyte, Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Provinces, Masbate, Burias and Ticao Islands, Surigao Del Norte incl. Dinagat and Siargao Islands, and Bohol. Tropical Depression Conditions with light, moderate to strong winds (30-62 kph) will be expected along these bands (click here to know more about Rainbands). 
 24HR TOTAL RAINFALL ACCUMULATION - from 5 up to 200 mm (slight to heavy rainfall) can be expected along areas affected by the outer & inner rainbands (see above)...with isolated amounts of 201 to 300 mm (heavy) along areas to the south, west and near the center of 06W (Gorio).

Tropical Depression "DANTE" as of 5:00am 6-8-2013

At 4:00 a.m. today, Tropical Depression "DANTE" was estimated based on all available data at 690 km East of Casiguran, Aurora (16.1°N, 129.5°E)with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center. It is forecast to move North Northwest at 11 kph.

Forecast:
Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, CARAGA, MIMAROPA and Visayas will experience cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. Bicol region and the rest of Mindanao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

Moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the northwest to west will prevail over Eastern Luzon and coming from the Southwest over Palawan and the western section of Visayas and Mindanao. The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough. light to moderate winds blowing from the Northwest to West will prevail over the rest of Luzon and coming from the southwest over the rest of the country with slight to moderate seas.(PAG-ASA)
