LPA named WP91 quickly moved and now inside the PAR



LPA (low pressure area) named WP91 quickly moved and almost inside the PAR (Philippine Area of Responsibility).

At 4AM today, a low pressure area (LPA) was estimated by PAGASA to be at 870 km east of Mindanao and is now inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). However it is the southwest monsoon that affects Luzon where cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms will prevail today. The whole of Mindanao will also have light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the Visayas. Strong or gale force southwesterly winds continue to affect the entire seaboards of Luzon (except the southern seaboard of southern Luzon) and fishing boats and small sea vessels are still advised not to venture out into the sea due to very rough conditions.

From Weather Central’s rainfall forecast, scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms will prevail over most areas in northern and central parts of Luzon including CALABARZON and Mindoro provinces becoming moderate in the afternoon or evening over the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Zambales, Tarlac and Pangasinan. Bicol region will have isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms as well as the central and eastern parts of Visayas. Scattered light rainshowers and thunderstorms could be expected over Western Visayas. Moderate afternoon or evening rainshowers and thunderstorms should also be expected in Cotabato, Bukidnon, Davao del Sur and Davao del Norte while the rest of Mindanao will experience light rainshowers and thunderstorms. Metro Manila will continue to have cloudy skies with 70-80% chance of light rainshowers and thunderstorms. Maximum temperature is from 29-30C.

A LPA (Low Pressure Area) was spotted outside of PAR

A LPA (Low Pressure Area) was spotted outside of PAR (Philippine Area of Responsibility) East of Mindanao. International Weather Agency called the LPA WP91. It is most likely to become a storm. Weather Bulletin will be posted by PAGASA when severe weather will take effect.

Eastern section of Mindanao will be rainy at times and Southwest Monsoon is affecting Luzon. Visayas including Palawan and Bicol will be partly clouding to cloudy with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Tropical Storm "Maring" as of 7am (8-20-2013)

Meanwhile, at 4:00 a.m. today, Tropical Storm "MARING" (TRAMI) was estimated based on all available data at 600 km East of Itbayat, Batanes (20.5°N, 128.4°E) with maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 120 kph. It is forecast to move North at 11 kph.

Tropical Storm "Maring" as of 7am (8-19-2013)






The Southwest Monsoon affecting the whole country. Meanwhile, at 4:00 a.m. today, Tropical Storm "‪#‎MaringPH‬" (TRAMI) was estimated based on all available data at 550 km East of Itbayat, Batanes (20.3°N, 127.7°E) with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph. It is forecast to move Northeast at 7 kph.

Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, CALABARZON and the provinces of Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Bicol region will experience Monsoon Rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula and the rest of Luzon, will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail throughout the archipelago and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

SYNOPSIS: Southwest monsoon affecting the whole country. Meanwhile, at 4:00 am today, Tropical Depression “Maring” was estimated based on all available data at 470 km East of Itbayat, Batanes (20.4ºN, 126.9ºE) with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center. It is forecast to move East at 9 kph.

FORECAST: The whole country will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail throughout the archipelago and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough. 

Tropical Depression "Maring" as of 10pm (8-17-2013)





Tropical Depression "Maring"has maintained its strength as it continues to move in an East Southeast direction.

Location of eye/center: At 10:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression “MARING” was estimated based on all available data at 410 km East of Itbayat, Batanes (20.4°N, 126.2°E).

Strength: Maximum winds of 55 kph near the center.

Movement: Forecast to move East Southeast at 11 kph.

Forecast Positions: Tropical Depression “MARING” is expected to be at 640 km East of Itbayat, Batanes tomorrow evening and at 850 km Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes by Monday morning. By Tuesday evening, it is expected to be at 1020 km Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. 

• Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 10 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression.
• “MARING” will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon that will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms over the western section of Luzon.
• Fishermen specially those using small seacrafts area advised not to venture out over the northern and western seaboard of Northern Luzon, Western seaboard of Central Luzon, and over the seaboard of Cavite, Mindoro Occidental, and over the western coast of Batangas due to the possible big waves generated by the enhance Southwest Monsoon. 
• The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 AM tomorrow.

Tropical Cyclone Warning: Typhoon "‪#‎LabuyoPH‬"

Typhoon “Labuyo” has made landfall over Casiguran, Aurora early this morning.

Location of eye/center: At 4:00 AM today, the eye of Typhoon “LABUYO” was located based on all available data at 45 km West of Casiguran, Aurora (16.2°N, 121.7°E).

Strength: Maximum winds of 165 kph near the center and gustiness of 200 kph.

Movement: Forecast to move West Northwest at 22 kph.

Forecast Positions: Typhoon “LABUYO” is expected to be at 300 km Northwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur by tomorrow morning or outside the PAR.

Public Storm Warning Signal #3 (Winds of 101-185kph is expected in at least 18 hrs): Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union,Pangasinan, Benguet, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino and Northern Aurora

Public Storm Warning Signal # 2 (Winds of 61-100kph is expected in at least 24 hrs): Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, Zambales, Tarlac, Rest of Aurora and Nueva Ecija

Public Storm Warning Signal # 1 (Winds of 45-60 kph is expected within the next 36 hours): Batanes, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Northern Quezon including Polillo Island, Laguna, Cavite, and Metro Manila

•Public Storm Warning Signal elsewhere are now lifted.

•Estimated rainfall amount is from 10 – 25 mm per hour (heavy - intense) within the 600 km diameter of Typhoon.

•Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signal #3,#2 & #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas under signal #3 and #2 are alerted against storm surges.

•Typhoon “Labuyo” will enhance the Southwest Monsoon which will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Southern Luzon and Western Visayas.

• Fishermen especially those using small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the western and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon and the seaboards of Visayas due to big waves generated by Typhoon “Labuyo”.

It is forecast to move West Northwest at 19 kph.

At 4:00 a.m. today, Tropical Storm "LABUYO" was estimated at 680 km east of Virac, Catanduanes (14.0°N, 131.4°E) with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is forecast to move west northwest at 19 kph. 

Forecast:
Palawan, Mindoro, Aurora, Rizal, Agusan Del Sur and Compostela Valley will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstroms. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. 

Light to moderate winds blowing from the southwest to southeast will prevail over Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and coming from southeast to east over the rest of Luzon. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate.

 At 4:00 p.m. today, Tropical Depression "KIKO" was estimated based on all available data at 280 km Northwest of Puerto Princesa City or 320 km West of Coron, Palawan (11.9°N, 117.0°E) with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 15 kph.

Low pressure area southwest of Coron, Palawan



PAGASA continues to monitor a low pressure area located 140 kilometers southwest of Coron, Palawan (as of 4 am Monday).

The forecast is for cloudy skies over MIMAROPA and the Visayas, which will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rain showers and thunderstorms and may trigger flash floods and landslides.

Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, the Bicol region, including some provinces in Mindanao, will also see cloudy skies but the rains will remain light to moderate in these areas.

The rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rains and thunderstorms.

PAGASA says the LPA may intensify into a tropical depression within 24 hours, and will be locally named "Kiko."

Moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the east to northeast will prevail over central and southern Luzon, and from the northwest to southwest over the Visayas.

Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough, so fishermen are advised not to venture out to sea or be alerted against big waves.

Light to moderate winds coming from the east will prevail over northern Luzon, and from the southwest to southeast over Mindanao with slight to moderate seas.

For cities in Luzon, Tuguegarao, Laoag, Puerto Princesa, Legaspi, and Tagaytay will have cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms.

Manila and Calapan could also experience some rains.

Metro Manila temperature will range from 25 to 34 degrees Celsius.

In the Visayas, Tacloban, IloIlo, Tagbilaran, Dumaguete, and Cebu will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains and thunderstorms, while Borongan will also be rainy.

Down south, General Santos, Davao, Zamboanga, and Cagayan De Oro will have partly cloudy skies which may develop into cloudy skies throughout the day, bringing isolated rains.

Cotabato and Butuan, meanwhile, will also be rainy.

August 1, 2013 Low Presure Area Coast of Aurora



At 10:00 am today, the Low Pressure Area (‪#‎LPA‬) off the coast of ‪#‎Aurora‬ is now estimated at 60 km Northeast of Calayan Island, ‪#‎Cagayan‬ (19.8˚N, 121.8˚E). This weather system will bring cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains over the ‪#‎Batanes‬‪#‎Calayan‬ and ‪#‎Babuyan‬ Group of Islands which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. 

Residents in these areas are advised to take all the necessary precautionary measures.
