Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 - 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 400 km diameter of the Tropical Storm.

Tropical storm "Basyang" is expected to cross Cebu City, Negros Provinces, Guimaras, Southern Panay, Northern Palawan and will exit to the West Philippine Sea.

Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon and the eastern and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon due to the surge of Northeast Monsoon.

The public and local DRRMCs concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 5 A.M. tomorrow.

The following schools are currently affected by the smoke emitted from the Calahunan burning. It is recommended for suspension of classes for today (January 30, 2014).

Methane gas fire at Calahunan

The fire is under control in Calahunan dump site as of 10pm. The chemical used by BFP is working but it will be more effective if soil Cover is used altogether. The site is now isolated by dirt road to separate collected garbage from the fire area. So far last night, fire truck is back to Mandurriao Fire Station but they will be check on the status of the area this early morning. Last night, smoke downdraft due to air pressure at night that is pushing down to the affected areas. Iloilo City CDRRMO will update on the fumes if to be announce for classes to resume or suspended or call 337-2208 or 335-1554 or 393-0451.

Low Pressure Area (LPA) at 1,170 km East of Northern Mindanao. According to PAGASA Weather Forecaster Buddy Javier, it is expected to enter Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this afternoon.

Iloilo's China Town hit by a big fire night before Kasadyahan 2014 (Dina...



Big fire in Iloilo's China Town at Fermin Caram Street (formerly Iznart Street)

First on fire scene at around 7pm. ICER Rescue 1 on-board with Blair (EMT-A,RT, Docu, Driver), Danilo (EMS) and John C. (Dispatch Officer, EMT-B, RT). Assess and Confirm at outisde of Ledi Supermart. Electrical sparks, explosion and thick black smoke.















ICER Rescue 1 from at Mulley Loney Street when base radio-in if any units near Iznart Street can confirm any fire call. I (ebsp) as driving the unit together with John C & Danilo was on board. We radio-in back we are at Mulley Loney and fire is confirmed with Smoke reaching out from the top of the building. Base replied to firmly confirm and proceeded. Upon arriving at the fire scene around pass 7pm, we saw sparks and back smoke visible in-front of  Ladi Supermart which Danilo confirmed. People gathered from the block of De Leon. We (as the first on the scene) immediately clear the area upon Police rapidly arrived at the scene and help us. BFP was first on the scene (fire truck & ambulance) and followed by Fed Fire  seconds after. We radio-in to reports that fire are starting to get bigger and rapidly engulfing other establishment. This event was just minutes from the start of Firework Competition in SM City in Mandurriao, where most fire trucks was deployed for the competition. The second ICER team arrived with Medic 5 includes Aldrin, Benson and the rest of the crew. The fourth to arrived at the fire scene was the owners of the establishments and followed by ICAG. Then few minutes after arrived at the scene where some fire trucks deployed at the fireworks competition. Rescue 1 was brought back to bring some more equipment to help rescuer and firelighters to open some establishments including hard hats, extra medical kits, cutting tools, ropes and RALS for the lighting the scene. Active Care & Red Cross also responded on scene and positioned at Plazoleta Gay area.

Few hours after, smokes turn white and slowly died down. They suddenly strong winds blow and intensified again the fire not only where four establishment was burned it extended couple more. Reaching 8-11 establishments. BFP radio-in for back-ups from Provincial BFP stations to help kill the fire. Final report will be filled by BFP Iloilo City. (ebsp)

Iloilo City CDRRMO - ICER established a Advance Medical Post at Seahorse Trading with the help of Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and ActiveCare. 4 ambulances on standby from ICER, 2 from Red Cross, 1 from ActiveCare. Most injuries are minor from cuts and bruises, but one medical due to asphyxia from smoke.
