Diversion Road Motorcycle Accident

An emergency call from a member of Kabalikat Civicom was received through radio about a motorcycle accident at Diversion Road, Manduriao in front of SM City Terminal at around 3am, Friday, April 13, 2012. The male victim was badly injured but remains conscious according to the initial information from the caller. ICER (medic3) ambulance and crew rushed to the scene and found the victim inside an unfinished road repair area. The patient was sitting beside his motorcycle full of blood and had a fractured right arm. The ambulance crew provided a cervical collar and a splint to the fractured arm of the patient to stabilize the arm. The patient was then transferred to the spine board and loaded to the ambulance. Additional vital signs were taken and other assessment was made inside the ambulance to provide comfort to the patient. Patient sustained multiple abrasions and an avulsion on his forehead. After a while the crew decided to take the patient to the nearest hospital due to its conditions for further medical attention.

A bystander at the scene blames the improper warning signs without a distance from the reconstructed road, besides the victim’s conditions under the influence of alcohol and without wearing a helmet while driving.
