Vehicular Extrication Practice

The Iloilo City Emergency Responders encounters vehicular accidents on a daily basis, thus  to enhance the knowledge of the teams, constant  vehicular extrication practice is needed. Vehicular extrication is a technical operation ranging from the simple pulling out of a patient from the wreckage, up to the most complicated scenarios which involve the use of hydraulic cutters and spreaders. The practice is aimed on how responders can extricate or remove a trapped person in a wrecked vehicle. It is not merely a simple act, but it requires deep knowledgeof force dynamics, vehicle design, impact prediction and patient safety. The practice aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of teams in removing a trapped person from a vehicle, while maintaining proper patient management. (AG/EBSP)
