SM City Iloilo mall wide earthquake drill

March 29, 8am – The SM City Iloilo Mall conducted its own mall wide earthquake drill exposing all of its staff and crew of the SM Department Store and Supermarket on the safety measures during an earthquake. During the drill, the mall enacted an actual earthquake scenario and had a fake patient to make the situation realistic. It was the mall’s first time to have a simultaneous earthquake drill with a patient to manage. It took 3 minutes for the drill participants to fully evacuate the premises. However, during the drill at the safe refuge at the car park area, some drill participants experienced dizziness due to the heat but recovered when the drill came to an end. To add, it was the mall’s first time to use emergency and first aid equipments in performing the drill. Moreover, the Iloilo City Emergency Responders observed the drill from start to finish.
